Magnetization Options

A Magnetic field is an invisible flux moving from one end of the magnet to the other, as shown in Figure 1. The flux consists of moving or spinning electrically charged particles invisible to the eye. Neodymium magnets do not spend their energy like a battery. They will retain their power over hundreds of years.

Figure 1

Magnets have potential energy which means that they have the ability to conserve energy. The magnet will display or release some of its conserved energy when pulling towards or attaching to something then conserve or store the energy that the user exerts when pulling it off.
When two magnets are placed near each other, the same poles repel each other while opposites attract. A north pole and south pole will be attracted to each other. Two north poles will repel each other, and two south poles will repel each other.

How Your Magnets Can Be Magnetized

Cylinder, Disc, and Rod Magnets
  • Axially Magnetized

Magnetized through the length or thickness. The strongest points are on the flat faces.

  • Diametrically Magnetized

Magnetized through the diameter. The strongest points are on the curved surface.

  • Radially Magnetized

Magnetized on the diameter. These magnets consist of all north, all south, or alternating polarities.

Cubes and Rectangle Magnets
  • Through the Thickness

Magnetized through the length or thickness. The strongest points are on the ends of the thickness. Thickness is usually the smallest dimension of a rectangle.

  • Through the Width

Magnetized through the width. The strongest points are on the ends of the width. The width is usually the 2nd largest dimension of a rectangle.

  • Through the Length

Magnetized through the length. The strongest points are on the ends of the length. The length is usually the largest dimension of the rectangle.

Arc Magnets
  • Diametrically Magnetized Arcs

Magnetized from the Inside Radius (r) through the Outside Radius (R). The strongest points are on the curved surfaces. Not a stocked item but available upon request.

  • Chord Magnetized Arcs

Magnetized Across the Arc. Strongest points are on the flat angled faces. Not a stocked item but available upon request

  • Axially Magnetized Arc

Magnetized through the thickness. The strongest points are on the flat faces. Not a stocked item but available upon request.

Special Magnets
  • Cup or Pot Magnets

A Cup or Pot is an axial magnet inside of a stainless steel shell. This shell absorbs the magnetic field on one side and forces it toward the opposite direction, creating a double pull at one end of the magnet. The Stainless steel shell doubles as a very tough layer of protection from harsh environments.

  • Sphere or Ball Magnets

Axially magnetized through the diameter (Like the Earth). The strongest points are on opposite ends.
